FAQs

1. Why did you start Indoor Sun?

We know that both plants and daylight are integral to our well-being and performance, but how effective are we at designing for both to thrive in a sustainable manner? Is there a better way?

The science is clear: incorporating plants and optimizing daylight can lead to healthier, more productive spaces. Both plants and people need light and lots of it, yet the distance light travels into a space is governed by the laws of physics (hint, its not very far). Designing effective living systems is no simple task, to say the least, and requires balancing of aesthetics and functionality.

At Indoor Sun, we believe every space deserves a touch of life, light, and art. What began as a simple love for design has grown into a mission: to transform the way people experience greenery.

In a world where concrete often overshadows nature, we exist to bring the two into harmony. Our living systems project blend Indian carvings with living plants, creating pieces that don’t just decorate a room, they energize it. With thoughtful design, premium materials, and a deep understanding of how plants thrive, we craft living art that elevates walls, brightens moods, and brings nature closer to everyday life.

2. What is your key inspiration?

Back in the summer of 2017, our founder, Shivank joined Amazon as an intern. Around this time, the Amazon Spheres was just getting completed. When he entered the building, he was speechless. How cool is it that an entire building has been built for living plants?!

As you climb the levels, the vibe ebbs and flows - youre in a well-lit, Instagram worthy cafe one-minute, while next you find yourself in a plush section which feels like a cool urban hotel lobby. The natural greenery finds contrasts in concrete walls, floors and exposed steel frames. All the while, tables and chairs are hidden in leafy alcoves or along the curve of outer glass walls. What struck Shivank the most was the light. There was so much of it, it was glorious. Inside the spheres, plants are aided with artificial light such that the whole place feels bright and airy and incredibly relaxing. Shivank, in that moment, felt like he had reached a personal peak: working inside a living, breathing sphere where the hush of water, drifting mist, and vibrant foliage formed the most calming soundtrack.

That moment stayed with him. He wanted others to experience that same sense of calm, inspiration, and connection to nature and Indoor Sun exists to make that possible.
